Wood Changes [woodchanges.com], designed by Luis Carli and Rafael Passarelli, summarizes the dimensional changes of wood along the year. The work intends to provide a comprehensible view of how different climate conditions influence different wood species regarding their dimensional stability.
Accordingly, people that design or work with wood can use these graphs to quickly estimate the behavior of wood species in specific locations along the year, and implement any necessary design modifications in order to accommodate dimensional changes
In terms of visualization, the sober but interactive graphs combine a ton of data in a single view, such as the wood moisture content by month in different cities, and the amount of dimensional changes by species. Other variables shown include temperature, relative humidity and Moisture Content (MC) by month in different cities. There is also an option to switch between radial and tangential wood directions.
Thnkx Luis!
